How to use Savings Tracker

On this website, Savings Tracker, you can: 

- Check the balance of your child's NYC Scholarship Account, with an initial $100 from NYC Kids RISE. Your child’s NYC Scholarship Account is invested in an NY 529 Direct Plan account that NYC Kids RISE owns and manages on your child’s behalf.
- Open an NY 529 Direct Plan account for the benefit of your child and connect it to your child’s NYC Scholarship Account. You and your child can see their college and career savings in one place. You can also connect an existing NY 529 Direct Plan account.
- Show your child the money that they have for college and career training! Knowing that their community is saving for their higher education will encourage them to stay on the path to educational success. 

Complete the 3 Building Blocks to Earn More Money for Your Child’s NYC Scholarship Account

The three foundational steps in the Save for College Program are called the “3 Building Blocks.” Each time you complete a Building Block, NYC Kids RISE will put a $25 reward toward your child’s NYC Scholarship Account! 

Building Block 1: Activate and view your child's NYC Scholarship Account

By activating and viewing your child’s NYC Scholarship Account on Savings Tracker, you have completed Building Block 1. Congratulations! Within a week of activating your child’s account, you will see a $25 reward from NYC Kids RISE in your child’s NYC Scholarship Account. To view the reward, scroll up to the “Your College Savings Accounts” section and click the "Scholarship Account" tab. You should see a transaction called "Building Block 1 Reward" right below the graph. 

Building Block 2: Open and connect your own college and career savings account

After activating and viewing your child’s NYC Scholarship Account (Building Block 1), you can open your own college and career savings account (Building Block 2). When you connect the accounts here on Savings Tracker, NYC Kids RISE will put another $25 reward toward your child’s NYC Scholarship Account. Learn about account options at nyckidsrise.org/options.

Building Block 3: Make the first $5 deposit into your connected savings account

To complete Building Block 3, deposit $5 or more into your connected savings account. After you make that first deposit, NYC Kids RISE will put another $25 reward toward your child's NYC Scholarship Account.

Starting in first grade: The Savings Match

Starting on your child’s first day of first grade, until the last day of fifth grade, NYC Kids RISE will match the money you deposit into your connected college and career savings account dollar-for-dollar, up to a maximum of $100. Learn more about the Savings Match at nyckidsrise.org/save.
